This is also known as inter-frame filtering, opposed to 2D filters which uses data taken from successive lines within a field or frame and is known as intra-frame filtering.

The EN7517HDMI 3D comb filter incorporates Noise Reduction (NR) and is de-interlaced. Noise Reduction (NR) is the removal of unwanted artifacts in video material. Noise reduction compares one frame to the next and then removes specks that are not the same in each frame. Deinterlacing is the technique of taking a stream of interlaced frames and converting it to a stream of progressive frames. .
