The new CV-A2 camera provides 2
mega pixel resolution and extremely compact housing
As the cost for processing power is rapidly decreasing, the industrial imaging market is able to accept even larger image formats.
The 1600 x 1200 image format, which only a few years ago was thought to be over-kill for most applications, is now growing in popularity.
At the same time, there is a huge installed base of systems using analogue interfaces in need of a performance upgrade. JAI’s new CV-A2 answers up to exactly that need.
Based on a 1/1.8" (close to 1/2") format CCD image sensor, housed in JAI's standard 29 (w) x 44 (h) x 66 (l) mm A-series housing, the new CV-A2 offers a cost effective and easy-to-use 1628 x 1236 pixel solution.
The CV-A2 is capable of 15 full frames per second. All settings, such as selecting shutter speed, gain, trigger modes, readout modes, etc., are done via an RS-232C interface using short ASCII commands via a terminal emulator or using JAI's Control Tool software.
The target markets for the CV-A2 include industrial inspection systems, especially where step-and-repeat operation is involved. With higher resolution, fewer steps are required to inspect the same object.
The other large target group is high-end surveillance, where intelligent traffic systems (ITS) are included.
