Because each Extron Specialized Product has a unique use, they do not fit neatly into traditional product categories. This category includes ground loop isolators/inhibitors, VideoShift™ products, video test generators, and more.

Each device in the Extron line of Specialized Products performs very different functions — from providing reference A/V test signals to eliminating hum bars and feedback loops.

The Extron Feedback Loop Isolator is designed to prevent audio and video feedback loops that can occur when a VCR is used for recording and playback in an A/V system. The diagram shows a videoconference application with feedback loops present when the VCR is recording. Audio feedback results when sound emanating from the speakers is picked up by the table mic and then fed back into the system. In addition, because of the inability to deselect or disengage the codec input from the VCR output while recording, both audio and video feedback occur. The result of all this is an objectionable, progressively loud audio tone which is heard through the speakers, and an endless, looping image on the screen.
