The EPIX Camera Link for PCI PIXCI-CL1 accepts data from a Camera Link camera while providing exposure, reset, and serial control. The PIXCI® CL1 capture and control board reduces the cost of digital imaging systems by reducing the cost of cabling and integrated circuits for interfacing a camera to a computer. The PIXCI® CL1 has a single 26 pin connector and supports a camera with the Base configuration of the Camera Link specification. The PIXCI® CL1 transfers video data to the PCI bus at up to 100 megabytes per second sustained rates as a PCI bus master. The PIXCI® CL1 operates in a 32 bit, 33 MHz PCI bus slot.

The PIXCICL1 video capture and camera control has a programmable video capture window to allow capture of less than the entire image from the camera. The user can select a minimum of 1 line of 8 pixels or select up to the entire image array from the camera. A camera control circuit specific to the timing requirements of the attached camera provide camera reset, exposure control, and a strobe output. A trigger input allows the circuit to respond to external events. Camera integration can be programmed from microseconds to minutes.

Software XCAP-Lite is a no-cost, ready-to-run interactive program which features camera control, line and column pixel plots, image sequence capture, image sequence display, and image save to disk.

XCAP-STD is a ready-to-run interactive image processing and analysis program for quantitative and qualitative image operations running under Windows 2K/NT/98/95. A few mouse clicks can select FFTs, histograms, morphology, subpixel edge measurements, correlations, arithmetic operations, blob analysis, and many other functions. XCAP controls up to 8 PIXCI® CL1 boards in one computer.

Images are displayed using the host computer's VGA adapter and monitor or LCD screen. Display resolution is a function of these devices. An XCAP software look-up-table allows display of 8 bits of pixel data from the pixel depth of the camera, which may be up to 16 bits. An Advanced Graphics Port VGA allows live update of images on the VGA.

The optional TTL Module minimizes false triggers when using a TTL trigger with a cable longer than one foot. The TTL MODULE converts the TTL trigger into a differential signal for reliable triggering with up to 200 feet of cable. The TTL MODULE also can generate a TTL strobe from the attached PIXCI® board. Compatible with PIXCI® CL1, CL2, CL3SD, D2X, D3X, SI, and SI4.
